Brevardian of the Week: Heath Seymour!
Place of employment: Heart of Brevard, Executive Director
Are you involved in any volunteer work?
Yes, but right now it is mainly connected to the boards I serve on.
What’s one item on your bucket list?
To retire from something.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Making things, rebuilding vintage electronics, creating art, road trips.
Ever had a brush with a celebrity?
Probably quite a few, especially in the Nashville area, but often I didn’t personally know their work.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Brevard?
The great downtown, and the nearby trails.
If someone had two days to spend in Brevard, how would you suggest they spend their time?
Spend part of each day in downtown shopping and dining, and check out at least one of the nearby parks each day as well.
What was the best (or worst) summer job you had while growing up?
My dad’s shoe store was the best, but my mowing business or studio were also good. A short time at a big box shoe store was probably the worst.
What’s one thing you did as a child you hope your kids never do?
Not asking enough questions sometimes.
Have you ever seen a U.S. President or Vice-President in person?
Yes, Reagan.
Do you have any knowledge of the origins of your family name?
I’ve heard that it was St. Maur in France.
What do you remember about your first crush?
My wife in college. I could talk to anyone but her.
What do you remember as your favorite subject in school?
Art class, freedom to experiment and to make mistakes.
What do you remember as your least favorite school subject?
History, but later found it was the teacher.
Tell about the best pet you ever had.
Lucky – I found him as a kitten being thrown in the air by a pack of dogs one night. He traveled around with me quite a bit after that.

Brevardian of the Week: Robert Frank!
Are you involved in any volunteer work?:
Not as much as I’d like to be. I work two jobs and am the father of a 4 year old. I did participate in a dance fundraiser. Also, I judged a talent show for Rosman High School. I used to help Michael a bit at the Bread of Life. That man does some amazing things.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A doctor. Then I saw blood and guts and changed my mind real quick.
What other names did your parents consider naming you?
Otto. My dad liked the palindrome part. Instead, he named me Bob.
Tell of any other nicknames in your family.
Terr Bear is my sister. Rog is my brother or Bubba. We call each other Bubba.
Did you ever pretend to be sick as an excuse to stay home from school?
All the time. :-)
What’s the best practical joke you ever played on someone?
I gave fake lottery tickets for Christmas.
Who is your favorite singer or group?
Such a widespread question. Depending on genres, women/men I love Sam Cooke, Thelonious Monk, Atmosphere, Alabama, Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston. Dion.
Tell about a favorite memory of your father.
Sitting on his lap in the recliner as a child every time we watched TV. I did it until I grew big enough that I hurt him and he said no more.
