… dramatic white squirrel rescue at our house today!

… it all started this morning at 7am when I noticed a white squirrel “sleeping” in the squirrel feeder (which I thought was weird)…

… then I noticed, after checking back, it was clearly distressed, sick or injured… it let me walk up to within feet of the feeder… something was very wrong…

… that’s when certified wildlife rehabilitator (and white squirrel expert) Jennifer Burgin came to the rescue (literally!)… by the way, after working the night shift and having less than one hour of sleep – that’s someone who cares about white squirrels! By the time she got here, he had crawled out of the feeder, run into a brushy area, and then hid under a tree stump… Jennifer had no fear about going in after him…

… she was amazing… and very knowledgable about what to do and what not to do…

… and she got the little guy and immediately started examining him… could tell his age (a few months old), sex (male) and determined his spine was likely okay (even though he was walking strangely) and he likely had suffered a head injury because of the way he was staggering (I think)…

.. Jennifer crated up our little guy and head back to her place to give him antibiotic, formula, and possible x-rays… thank you so much, Jennifer!
