Beautiful Saturday… so we hit the road for a day trip through Cullowhee, Sylva, Franklin, and back through Highlands… it was gorgeous! Just outside of Highlands, we pulled over at this observation deck above a beautiful waterfall!

Okay, some of you already know of Matt’s dream to open a cupcake shop in downtown Brevard on Main Street. But I keep telling him the future is in whoopie pies (although he’s never quite bought my argument). Anyway, he’s never tried one … so when I happened to see some at Fresh Market in Hendersonville this afternoon, I picked some up. Result: he thinks they’re “okay”… still prefers the cupcake idea… and I think they’re a little gross… no, really gross.

Sleds for sale today in front of O.P. Taylor’s, including cool “old-fashioned” wooden ones. I hear the round ones (like these green ones) made of metal are the absolute best…. sled rockets! We found out a neighbor has one… and hope to get to try it out next snow storm. ;-)

Matt and I checked out the Twin Dragons Grand Buffet chinese restaurant for dinner tonight. We didn’t know what to expect… had never been there and had heard they have dirty floors (not naming names…), but the floors were pretty darn spotless, if you ask me. While killing time before Matt’s acting class in Flat Rock, we stopped in at the “Hand in Hand Gallery”… and saw some beautiful watercolors (gorgeous sunsets) by Jane Voorhees (and she was actually there in the store). Found some other nice things too… 
like some really nice pottery pieces and this pear painting that I might have bought for $450, had I been in an impulsive mood. :-)

Yay!… today I was finally able to get the car out (despite the ice) and run some errands! Never before in my life have I been so happy to go for a drive… we actually drove all the way to Hendersonville. Another day stuck in the house, and I surely would have gone mad!

The Co-ed Cinema has been Brevard’s movie theatre for 75 years running… and it’s one of my absolute favorite spots in downtown Brevard. Not only is it one of the very few one-room movie theatres left in the nation, but it always shows first-run movies… and the popcorn is the best in town! :-) Ann
